Things to Consider
Take everything you want to store in your new safe and place it on the kitchen table.
That will give you an idea of how to think about volume and shelving requirements.
Also to be considered is your future needs for additional space inside the safe. You don’t want to out-lay considerable funds on a safe to then have to upsize inside 1-2 years.
Next, consider what is the projected cash value of items to be stored securely in your safe? Do you need insurance for these items? If so, you need to purchase or hire a safe that meets the needs of the insurance provider or auditors in the case of SMSF.
Fire rating of your safe is vitally important if you wish to keep your precious items and photos/memories safe in the event of a fire.
